A town with very ancient origins, Crispiano has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by numerous finds from the Greek era, including a very interesting “tomb kit” from the 4th century which constitutes a of the most important pieces of the famous “Ori di Taranto
On a suggestive route between Mediterranean hills and plains covered with imposing centuries-old olive trees, kilometer after kilometre, you come across farms whose construction period varies between the 15th and 19th centuries and whose architectural variations range from the smallest rural farms to the most imposing closed courtyard structures with fortified walls.

In 2007, the “Le Cento Masserie” Consortium of Crispiano was founded with the aim of enhancing this unique territory, rich in historical, artistic, landscape, cultural and food and wine heritage.

Tourists walk between one farm and another to admire wonderful, carefully frescoed chapels, archaeological sites that testify to the proximity to the capital of Magna Graecia or more simply, rural environments in which for centuries the life of the poor and the nobles alternated .
It is an ideal place for visitors eager to discover ancient flavors and traditions proudly guarded by local residents, offering an experience off the traditional tourist itineraries.
