Lecce

The capital of Baroque

The beating heart of Salento, Lecce is the baroque city par excellence. The incredible beauty that the Salento capital still reserves for its tourists is due to the seventeenth century Baroque. Walking through the historic centre, you will feel like you are in an open-air museum, starting from Piazza di Sant'Oronzo, once called the merchants' square, continuing towards the Roman amphitheatre, until arriving in the old city where the Duomo stands of Lecce, a superb demonstration of baroque and Lecce stone.
